US facing site for small businesses who need to design flavours and fragrances for their products.

This site needed business people to be able to perform a traditionally offline activity – design of flavours and fragrances, online. To begin with we spent a week with two experts – from Canada and the UK.

They introduced us to this entirely new field and explained their processes and what worked in the real world. We created a site structure and a set of design options for them to select from that tried to translate their experience online.

The biggest challenge was to design flash based configurators that allowed users to design their own flavours and fragrances by moving and dragging pointers to make selections online. The other interesting part of the site was the planning of the back end processes to support the sampling and delivery of the products that customers ordered, request revisions and finally to place orders.

The site has been designed and developed to the satisfaction of the expert consultants and is now poised for launch online.
